COSTUME DESIGN
The course of Costume Design is meant to give the learner a basic understanding of creating costumes for the stage. Performers come across many ideas for costumes and this module is going to help to organize these ideas and transfer them into the material world.
The module covers the following areas:
Art theory and how to guide the eye of a viewer
Interaction of colours in patterns, in pictures or when physically mixing them
A short history of costume, a knowledge that is relevant for period (history) pieces. One can decide to be extremely accurate with the costumes, or just use costumes with some hints of the historical costume incorporated in the design
Fabrics and fibres - a reference guide when looking for just the right fabric Designs and patterns and how to make a costume including the sketch, the pattern and the measurements.
